From explorers to colonists to revolutionaries these images bring the story to life: Columbus and his little flotilla on the high seas; the landing of the Mayflower; the hardships of Jamestown; Boston’s tea party; and Washington crossing the Delaware. Portraits range from the iconic face of George Washington to lesser known characters in the drama. Expanding on the historical persona and events, examples of architecture, interiors, furnishings and household goods expand our understanding of the people and events of the time
